Sabio are a leading Customer Experience consultancy. Each year they hold a conference in two cities, London and Madrid. This year the theme was AI and Sabio wanted a way to launch the conference and establish the theme while setting minds racing.

Rocketmakers created a virtual Barack Obama. Not a deep-fake, but a facsimile using a 3d model of the former-president, a voice engine cloned from recordings of the man and an AI personality that drew from his writings, interviews and articles about him. Early versions found him to be rather ‘too presidential’ and we needed to inject a good amount of relaxed humour in order for the result to give a convincing performance.

The Portrait technology was able to give responses to questions with sub-second response times in front of live conference audiences of around 500 delegates using a standard broadband connection. Mr Obama answered questions from the audience and was challenged to perform a rap!
